Magnificent Mallards:
First grade students created these magnificent mallards for their spring concert. We used different tools to make texture and learned the accordian fold.
Fall Leaf Crayon Resist:
First grade students created these fall leaves after talking about the colors that symbolize fall. We discussed types of straight lines like horizontal, vertical, and diagonal.
Fire Flies Light the Sky:
First grade students created these glowing fireflys using model magic, wiggle eyes, and frosted paper. We talked about the parts of a landscape and discussed how to draw a realist tree. I demonstrated the Y tree and the kids really took off with them. We also discussed perspective and how trees further away should appear smaller. These were a big hit with the school guests.
Raggedy Anne and Andy:
First grade students created Raggedy Anne and Andy figures using simple shapes like circles, trianges, ans d rectangles. We then used primary colors to color them in. What happend to Andy? As always, we read a book. This time it was Raggedy Ann's Birthday Surprise.
Monet's Pond Pals:
First grade students created these fun frogs using paste papers and collage techniques. We watched the movie Linnea in Monet's Garden.
